Bring the Outside In: Creating an Abundant, Romantic Garden Aesthetic in Your Wedding Venue
For many of my couples, the goal isn’t just to have ‘some flowers’ at their wedding,, it’s to make their guests feel like they have stepped into a romantic, and magical landscape. Whether you are marrying in a rustic Somerset barn, a city centre Bristol venue, or a historic house in Bath, here is how we bring the untamed beauty of the outside in.
The Meadow Aisle: Walking Through Nature
Forget the traditional red carpet. A Meadow aisle uses low-level, floor-based ‘growing arrangements’ to line your path.
The Look: Incredibly natural, it looks as though flowers have naturally sprouted from the floorboards of the barn, and instantly brings your colour palette into the ceremony room
The Benefit: It creates an immersive experience for your guests and provides incredible ‘walking down the aisle’ photos
The Win: These arrangements can be repurposed after the ceremony ( more bloom for your buck, yes please!) After the ceremony the Meadows can be lined up in front of your top table, or at the ends of long tables, in front of the seating plan, or infant of the cake table
Statement Arches: The Romantic Frame
An arch is more than just a backdrop, it’s the perfect frame for the most important moment of your life
The Look: We avoid stiff, symmetrical shapes, instead, incorporating organic movement through: branches and blossom that have natural curves
The Benefit: It creates a focal point. In a large venue, such as a Somerset Barn, or a grand historic house, or urban Bristol warehouse, the scale of the background doesn’t provide a visual achor. An arch creates a natural, intimate ‘room within a room
’
The Win: The ultimate photography frame. The ceremony is the most photographed part of the day, and really sets the scene upon your guests arrival. A lush, abundant arch ensure that every shot from your ‘first look’, to ‘first kiss’ is surrounded by nature
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Grand Urns and Pedestals
In large venues and open spaces, such as churches and ceremony rooms, scale is everything. Small arrangements can get lost in high-ceiling rooms, we use urns overflowing with branches of beech, hazel and hornbeam and flowers of the season, be that blousy peonies or sumptuous dahlias
The Look: Our urns act as floral pillars, anchoring the room and bringing the garden elegance inside
The Benefit: Framing the ‘threshold’. Urns are fantastic for creating a sense of arrival. Placing a pair of urns at the entrance of a church, or aisle, instantly sets the tone for the event, even before the guests set inside
The Win: Versatility; urns can be on pedestals for the ceremony and then moved to the entrance if the wedding breakfast to greet the guests, and them position by the cake table or behind the top table
